Purpose
This article provides instructions for Allbound Administrator users for how to add a video media asset to a piece of content. Also listed are our frequently asked questions.
- Allbound currently supports video files hosted in Vidyard, Vimeo, YouTube or Wistia
Introduction
Videos are often integral to the sales process, especially when we are trying to communicate or demonstrate difficult or in-depth information.
When adding videos to your Allbound portal, we very highly recommend that you host your videos in a video hosting tool (Vimeo is a fan favorite) and NOT in your Allbound Media Library. When a video from a supported hosting tool is played in the portal, it will play in a modal window; it will not open another tab or send your user to another system.
Your portal has a maximum upload file size of 256 MB. Larger files, especially videos, negatively affect the user experience by either slowing down the portal, or streaming into additional tabs and windows. Allbound strongly advises that videos be hosted outside of the platform and then shared within the dashboard buttons or individual content pages.
Where to Share Your Hosted Video
1. Login to the Allbound platform
2. Click on the Settings Gear icon within the top toolbar and then click "Content"
3. Click on the "Content & Resources" tile
4. Click on the "Add Content & Resources" button
5. To use a video as an attached asset, paste the video URL into the "Attach Asset" box. Ensure you are pasting the "Share" link from your video hosting tool into this field
Vimeo Privacy Settings Overview
Vimeo offers the following privacy options for your videos. Please update your privacy settings if you receive the error that your video is unable to play:
- Public (Basic or Free): Anyone can watch the video, and the video will be discoverable in search engines.
- Unlisted (Plus, Starter, and higher): Unlisted videos will not appear in public search results, but they can be accessed and shared by anyone who has the video's unique URL. These videos can also be embedded anywhere online. Viewers do not need a Vimeo account to watch an unlisted video.
- Note When you change your video's privacy settings to Unlisted, an extra set of numbers - what we call the privacy hash - will be added at the end of your video's URL, and must be included in order for embeds to work.
- Password (Plus, Starter, and higher): Set a password for the video. Anyone who enters that password can watch the video.
- Hide from Vimeo (Plus, Starter, and higher): The video can be embedded and viewed on other sites but does not have a video page on Vimeo. Your video cannot appear in channels and groups but can still be added to showcases and portfolios.
- Private The video will be visible internally to you and members of your team, and no one else. . (Note: Adding team members to your account requires a Pro, Standard, or higher membership).
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can we add downloadable videos as an attached asset to a piece of content? So users may download the video straight to their computer?
A. As an Allbound Administrator user, you may upload the video file rather than a video share link as an asset to a piece of content. When users click the "View Now" button for a piece of content, the video will open in a new tab or browser window. Once in the browser, the user should be able to download the video. This is best practice for downloadable .mp4 video files
Q. Does the portal automatically track/calculate a video completion rate?
A. Yes, the portal automatically tracks/calculates a video completion rate. When users click on the "View Now" button within a piece of content with a video asset, the user must watch 90% of said video to achieve a 100% completion rate for the piece of content
